How to Find the Right IKON Headlights for Your BMW F80 or F82

Not sure whether your BMW originally came with xenon or LED headlights? Check the connector before ordering. This is especially helpful if your car already has aftermarket headlights and you don’t know its factory configuration.

IKON-style headlights are available with different connectors. Selecting the version that matches your car’s wiring is essential for proper fitment.

What does the pin count mean?

BMW used different headlight connectors across its lighting configurations. On F-chassis cars, these pin counts are common:

These are general guidelines, not a substitute for checking your car. Configurations can vary, and an existing aftermarket headlight may not reveal what was installed at the factory.

How to check your headlight connector

1. Turn off the car and the headlights.

2. Locate the main electrical connector on the back of either headlight. Access may be easier through the front wheel-well liner; on some cars, you may be able to reach the connector without removing the liner.

3. Release the connector and unplug it carefully. Pull on the connector housing, not the wires.

4. Take a clear photo straight into the face of the unplugged connector, with all the contact positions visible. Use your phone’s flashlight if needed.

5. Send the photo to us before ordering. We’ll check the connector and help you select the correct headlight version.

There’s no need to guess the pin count yourself. A sharp, well-lit photo is the easiest way for us to help.

Already have aftermarket headlights?

That’s okay. We can still check the connector on your car’s wiring harness. Please photograph the vehicle-side plug that connects to the headlight, rather than relying on the appearance of the headlights currently installed.
